“It is better to be unknown in sagebrush and happy than to be known in neon and sad.” Art Coelho |
A Soul's Colors |

Website Body of Work Statement The storyline in my traditional canvases triggers something eternal in manual labor. Sweat is poetic when it's a struggle for daily bread. This dramatic element in life's mysteries within my paintings has to absorb human nature enough to become discoverable when it awakens something in a woman's face that explains the history of a river; and answers questions like how does light illuminating decay find glory; why does a small humorous gesture of a worker help us understand his relationship to his beast of burden; what is in the hot sun that we feel shining on a field that gives all the gifts of spring grass; or in that exploding smell of lush hydrangeas in a patio making us relive our dream for an earlier time; and a new dawn for old lovers in a waiting gondola...how does the rocking in the vibrant-colored waves of water reveal a future intention? |
